Venezuela and Nigeria have signed Memorandum of Understanding

Venezuela and Nigeria have signed Memorandum of Understanding to promote human rights in both countries.

This was made known by the Venezuelan Ambassador to Nigeria, David Caraballo at a lecture on Human Rights, at the University of Abuja, by visiting Venezuelan ombudsman, Alfredo Angulo.

For years, reported violation of human rights have almost become normal in Venezuela, with series of sanctions by the United States government, which restricts Venezuelan government’s access to U.S. debt and equity markets among others.

In Nigeria however, there are no sanctions by another country, but cases of human rights violations by some institutions, remain very visible. With the agreement signed by Venezuela and Nigeria, hope rises that certain abuses in both countries will be contained.

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Venezuela, Alfredo Angulo, is therefore advocating the start of human rights consciousness from the family.

The lecture series was put together by the Abuja Leadership Centre, of the University of Abuja
