Security Alert: FCT schools concerns

The National President, National Association of proprietors of private schools, Yomi Otubela has challenged security agencies to provide adequate protection for schools in the wake of security alert in the federal capital territory.

Otubela who was reacting to news making the rounds that some schools have shutdown in Abuja, urged school owners not to heighten the tension among parents and guardiance.

Security alerts issued by the US, UK and other countries to their nationals in Nigeria over possible attacks in the country’s Federal Capital territory of Abuja, has sent shocking waves among residents.

The arrest of some terrorist at an estate in Abuja last week and the closure of operations by a mega mall and news of some schools closing physical learning for online, has compounded the situation.

National President of the National Association, proprietors of private schools, Yomi Otubela, wants Security agencies to beef up security arround schools.

He told AIT on phone that he will not blame schools trying to play safe, but however advises schools proceeding on midterm to be conscious in order not to create panic In the information to parents and guardiance.

Since the US and UK issued security advisory to their citizens in Nigeria last week, more countries have joined amidst denial from Nigerian authority, who described the alerts as false and unnecessary distractions.
