The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Wednesday said that the N345 million capital expenditure appropriated to his ministry for 2023 is grossly inadequate.

The minister said this when he appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values to defend his Ministry’s Budget.

The minister noted that given that the ministry will be overwhelmed with so much work towards the 2023 general elections and the general census coming up same year, it is imperative to review upwards the ministry’s proposed budget of N345 million.

He also decried the capital allocations of most of the parastatals under his ministry which he said were drastically cut down.

The minister’s position was supported by members of the committee who described the capital allocations to Information Ministry as grossly inadequate and totally unacceptable.
