The Federal Government has described the statement credited to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese Matthew Kukah where he compared the Federal Government to Boko Haram as a great disservice to the ongoing efforts by the military to rid the country of terrorists including the ISWAP Group to keep Nigerians safe.
In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Friday in Abuja, the nation’s capital, charged the Catholic bishop to use his high ecclesiastical office to work for religious harmony in Nigeria.

The Minister reiterated the Federal Government’s position that the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists do not subscribe to any religion ,irrespective of their pretense to such, but are driven by their primitive propensity to kill and destroy without restrain, irrespective of their victims’ creed, gender or tribe.
Mohammed appealed to religious leaders to show some restraint in comments on religious issues, because of the tendency to be exploited for political gains.
Bishop Kukah on Tuesday in the United Kingdom while reacting to the killing of 10 Christians on Christmas Eve by suspected Boko Haram terrorists and the ISWA attack on Christmas Day compared the Federal Government to the Boko Haram terror Group.
