About 27000 persons still displaced after last year’s military invasion of Konshisha, Benue

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency SEMA says about 27,000 people are still displaced since last year’s military invasion of Konshisha local government of the state which led to loss of several lives and destruction of property.

It will be recalled that in April last year 12 soldiers were killed around Bonta community of Konshisha local government area of Benue leading to the military invasion that disrupted normal activities in the area.

Statistics released by the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA reveals a staggering displacement of over 2 million people as a result of insecurity.

The flood disaster is another worrisome humanitarian crisis the State is grappling with to ameliorate the plight of the masses as most of the population are predominantly peasant farmers.

As is customary authorities of State Emergency Management Agency SEMA have flagged off the distribution of essentials to these vulnerable group.

The Executive secretary acknowledged some donations received from the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, faith based organisations,as well spirited individuals.

Items to be distributed include food stuff such as rice, beans,garri,beverages and non food items such as mats,mosquito nets and clothes.
