The suit filed by the All Progressives Congress aspirant for the Cross River Central Senatorial seat Mary Ekpere-Eta, before the Federal High Court , Abuja was stalled on Thursday following the setting up of a Special Taskforce to entertain all pre-election matters.
Ekpere-Eta has been praying the Court to determine whether by the combined reading of section 228(B) of the Constitution and Sections 29, 84 & 85 of the Electoral Act 2022 , the indirect primary election conducted on May 28 2022 to nominate the candidate of the APC for the election without the aspirants sighting any delegates list or register is lawful.
Ekpere-Eta therefore wants an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to submit her name as the authentic candidate of the APC Cross River Central Senatorial District or in the alternative declare that the primary election of the APC null and void
She is also asking for the sum of twenty five million naira as damages and cost of action.
