The Management of the University of Calabar, UNICAL, has raised the alarm over a plot by some suspected cultists to attack and kidnap innocent students and staff within the university community.
Registrar of the University, Gabriel Egbe, stated this in a statement issued and sent to journalists in Calabar, calling on security agencies to prevent the planned attack.
The management assured staff and students of the university’s community that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the university’s internal security works closely with other security agencies to raid the hideouts of the cultists.

The university called on students to go about their legitimate activities without fear of molestation, assuring that the situation is under control.
Reacting to the alleged possible attacks, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo said the Police and other security agencies have been duly alerted.
Ugbo assured that the command will commence continuous patrol of its Dragon Security Unit and Marine Police to cover the vicinity and water corridor of the university.
