Abandoned Projects: Federal character commission to begin nationwide project audit

The increasing number of abandoned projects by the Federal Government across the Country has become a source of concern to the Federal Character Commission FCC, as the agency sets to begin a nationwide infrastructural audit.

Chairman of the commission, Muheeva Dankaka made this known in Calabar, during a sensitisation programme organised for stakeholders in the six states of South-South Zone of Nigeria.

Muheebah explained that the effort was in line with the rules of engagement by the commission in ensuring that infrastructure spread across the country are properly monitored and evaluated.

She promised that the commission will continue to ensure equity and fairness within the federation and evaluate the spread of socio-economic amenities as represented by the location of projects in Nigeria.

Some of the participants who spoke at the event said equitable distribution of socio-economic amenities and infrastructural facilities nationwide will reduce tensions and suspicions.

The programme with the theme: “Promoting Peace and National Development Through Equitable Distribution of Socio-Economic Amenities and Infrastructural Facilities Nationwide” had in attendance, government agencies, Development Partners, Non-Governmental and Civil Societies Organisations.
