The Federal Government has donated relief materials worth several millions of Naira to victims of flooding in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria.
Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed made the donation when he paid visited Governor Udom Emmanuel at the Government House, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The 2022 flood in Nigeria is the worst in living memory as many towns and villages have been severely hit rendering many people homeless.

Akwa Ibom is one of the states severely affected which is why the Federal Government in commiserating with the government and people has donated relief materials to those affected. Ahmed noted that the relief materials were to cushion the effect of the disaster.
Governor Emmanuel, represented by his deputy, Moses Ekpo thanked the Federal Government for the donations and assured of equitable distribution to victims.
Ekpo pointed out efforts by the State Government to deal with emergencies and donated an office complex to NEMA.
Several food items like 1,000 bags each of 10kg rice, beans and maize, bar soaps, clothing materials, sleeping mats and treated mosquito nets were among the items donated.
