Now fewer than 11 farmers have been confirmed dead following an early morning attack by terrorists in the Maikako Community in the Bokkos Council Area of Plateau State.
Those killed during the attack which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, at about 2 am were mostly women and children who were reportedly burnt to death.
A community member, Mabur Macham, who confirmed the incident, alleged that the attackers who stormed the community in their dozens were Fulani because the locals heard them speaking during the attack.
According to Macham, a total of 34 houses were also set ablaze by the attackers, while the search for more dead bodies is still ongoing.

The Plateau State Police Command, through its spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the attack and said the Police responded swiftly and were able to rescue some of the victims, while a Tactical team from the command was deployed to go after the bandits.
As of the time of filling in this report, tension is still mounting in the area with the sounds of gunshots.
