The Governing Council of the National Institute of Trypanosomiasis and Onchocerciasis Research (NITR) has called on President Muhammad Buhari to further intervene in the leadership tussle rocking the institute to avoid break down of law and order.
The Chairman of the governing council, Shehu Lambu who made the call at a news conference in Kaduna also wants the president and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to call the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Adeleke Mamora to order.

Lambu wonders why the former overseeing Director General of the institute, Dr. Felicia Enwezor who had been suspended by the council is still being allowed in office in acting capacity by the minister.
The governing council noted that it has concluded plan for the selection of a substantive DG and that names of the top three of the 24 candidates who applied for the position will be forwarded to the minister for onward transmission to the President for appointment of substantive Director General.
