No fewer than 19 persons have been reportedly killed by terrorists at Riyoji community in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
A resident of the affected community said that the terrorists stormed the area on motorcycles on Wednesday night at about 10 pm when they started shooting sporadically, killing 19 persons, and leaving several others with gunshot wounds. He said many of the residents fled into the bush for safety.
The locals disclosed that the terrorists also carted away valuable items including foodstuff and animals.

Sources said many residents of the troubled community, especially women and children have fled the community to other neighbouring places for fear that the terrorists might return.
The residents are calling on the Federal and Zamfara State Governments to deploy security operatives to protect them against the incessant attacks from the terrorists.
The Zamfara State Police Command has not yet made an official statement on the incident.
