Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo says train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor will resume once passengers become accustomed to the new modes of operation introduced to ensure safety of their lives and property.
Sambo made this known in Kaduna, North-West Nigeria during a test-run of the facility, in view of the proposed resumption of rail services on the corridor. He says the new modes of operation include presentation of the National Identity Number, NIN for acquisition of travel tickets
He added that passengers should expect a rise in transportation fares considering the contemporary economic realities.

There will however be a reduction in the number of daily trips between Abuja and Kaduna as part of measures to run a hitch free service, when full commercial operations resume.
Eight months after the terrorists attack on Abuja-Kaduna train facility, which resulted in deaths of some passengers, abduction of many and consequent suspension of operations, the Federal Ministry of Transportation, says it is on the verge of resuming operations following the release of the last batch of those abducted.
