Labour Party's Women Leader Victoria Chimtex

The Labour Party in the Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone has condemned in strong terms the brutal and cowardly assassination of the party’s Women Leader Victoria Chimtex.

Victoria Chimtex was the Woman Leader, of Kaura LGA.

A statement by LP’s Publicity Secretary, Edward Buju, said the sad event took place on Monday morning when some unknown gunmen broke into her family compound and shot her to death.

Her husband was also brutally shot in the leg and is currently in an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.

He added that Chimtex was known for her ability to relate well with people, and she was active in bringing hundreds of resourceful new entrants into the Labour Party in Kaura Local Government Area.

Buju added that the killing will indeed remain sad in their hearts, but it will not break their spirit or intimidate them from pursuing the election of the Labour Party into all elective offices in 2023.

Buju said Chimtex was a dedicated and committed mother of six children who also adopted three children, making her have nine children under her care.

The statement said, on behalf of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the governorship candidate in the state, Jonathan Asake, called on the people of Kaura Local Government and Labour Party faithfuls, to be law abiding and allow the law to take its cause.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to hear from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful.
