Governor Okowa Reiterates commitment to ensuring access to justice in Delta state

Delta State Governor and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the State under him prioritises access to justice as part of efforts to expand and broaden justice delivery in the state.

Governor Okowa who made this known at the second meeting of the body of Attorneys-General of state’s of the federation in Asaba Delta state capital said the meeting is taking place at such a crucial time in country’s history of electioneering season.

Governor Okowa represented by his Deputy Deacon Kingsley Otuaro said his administration’s bid to broaden access to prompt dispensation of justice has sent three Executive Bills : Delta state administration of Civil Justice Bill 2022, Delta state Administrative Procedure Bill 2021 and the Delta state Administration of Criminal Justice Bill 2022 to the state house of Assembly.

Governor Okowa reiterated that his administration is irrevocably committed to the financial autonomy of the Judiciary Fund Management, a critical step for the independent control of the judiciary’s internal fiscal management and appropriations.

Chairman, Body of Attorneys-General of state’s of the federation Moyosore Onigbanjo said the Judiciary plays an important role in the development of the nation noting that without the instrumentality of the law, the nation would be in chaos.

In her opening remark, Chief Judge of Delta state Justice Theresa Diai, and Delta state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Isaiah Bozimo respectively called for more interaction between the Attorneys-General and Chief Justices of the state judiciary.
