The Bayelsa State Government has again called on the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission RMAFC to comply with an order of the Supreme Court over the disputed Soku oil and gas fields, whose ownership is in contention between Bayelsa and Rivers State.
Governor Douye Diri made the call during a courtesy call on him by a fact-finding team from the federal agency in Government House, Yenagoa.
The issues concerning the disputed Soku oil well between Bayelsa and Rivers states have lingered for quite some decades.
A team from the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission were in Bayelsa State on a fact-finding mission.
Governor Douye Diri who spoke through his Deputy Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo wants the commission to take up decisive actions in the demarcation of the boundary between Bayelsa and Rivers State in order to resolve the disagreement between both states.
Governor Diri also charged the RMAFC to strictly apply the right indices for revenue allocation and distribution, stressing that the Commission needed to be more circumspect in taking decisions on revenue disputes between states in the country.
Leader of the delegation, Andrew Agbaga, said their assignment in the state was to verify whether what RMAFC approved and distributed was the actual amount that got to the states and local government areas.
