Some Lagos Residents on Sunday visited recreational centres to have fun with families and loved ones on the first day of the new year after the first Sunday church service.

The residents while speaking to AIT, said they remain hopeful, despite the challenges experienced in year 2022.

Christian faithful in the state had earlier converged Saturday night to mark the last day of the year twenty twenty two during the cross over night service to usher in the year 2023 as they sang and danced in various churches across the state.

A visit to some of the worship centres around the metropolis witnessed large turnout of worshippers who came to give thanks to God on the last day of the year , as they looked forward to a prosperous new year.

In Bayelsa, worshippers who gathered at different churches for the usual cross over services, ceased the moment to also pray for a better Nigeria and the forthcoming general elections.

For them, although the year 2022 was characterized with turbulent times, they remained grateful to God for bringing them into the new year, 2023.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers state, the few minutes before and after midnight of 2022 heralding the new year, 2023, saw the skyline dotted with scanty fireworks and knockout bangers on the ground. Entertainment Practitioners and pub goers attributed the lull in the new year eve celebrations to the economic downturn and insecurity.

on a popular area of GRA in Port Harcourt, where several night clubs are located, lots of people were seen on the street but that did not translate to good business for the entertainment spots owners according to some business managers.
