Mixed reactions have continued to trail the collection of INEC Permanent Voter Cards as residents troop out at the ward levels in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had asked registered voters who are yet to collect their cards to go to their various wards for collection.

But when ait.live News crew visited some of the designated collection centers, such as the Izzy Primary School and Owerri Municipal Secondary School, it was observed that there were no INEC officials on ground, even as several people converged on the places.

However, it was a different story at the Akwakuma Girls Secondary School, Owerri collection centre as some excited persons who had received their PVC cards were seen leaving, while others were still making frantic efforts to obtain theirs.

Chibuike Okegbu, an INEC official at Owerri North Council Area and others commended the process and turnout of people at the center.

The respondents are expressing fears on the authenticity of the February 25, 2023 elections date, calling on the electoral body to put things right in order to ensure that the polls hold on the scheduled date.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Sylvia Agu could not be reached for comments on the noticeable hitches in the process at the ongoing Ward level distribution of the PVCs across Imo State.

INEC fixed 22nd January 2023 as the last day for the collection of PVCs across the country, ahead of the February 2023 general elections.
