2023 Elections: Obong of Calabar tells youths to shun violence

The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo-Okon Abasi-Otu V has advised Nigerian Youths to steer clear of violence and thuggery as the 2023 General Election draws closer.

The Cross River State monarch made the comment when the Concerned Youths of Cross River State under the ‘Back to South’ agenda organization led a peaceful rally to his palace in Calabar.

Represented by the Chairman of Etubom-in-Council, Etubom Bassey Duke, the Obong said it is important for youths in Cross River State and Nigeria to be concerned about collecting their Permanent Voters Cards and voting credible candidates of their choice instead of engaging in acts of violence.

The leaders of the visiting youth delegation, Tete Anam and Micheal Nsan said said their rally was anchored on the need for equity ,fairness and justice in the leadership of Cross River State.

The rally which started at the popular Watt Market terminated at the Obong’s Palace in Calabar South Local Government Area of the state.
