Edo State Government says it is not relenting in its efforts to make the premium motor spirit available in the state at affordable rates.

Addressing the media in Benin City, the State Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Ethan Uzamere reveals that seven hundred and eighty four thousand litres have been supplied to the State and a committee set up to ensure regulation and stability in the sale and distribution of crude oil products.

Edo State Government is taking serious the protests by Civil Society Organisations and youths who took to major roads in Benin City to draw the attention of relevant authorities to the attendant effects of the current fuel scarcity and subsequent astronomical increase in the price of the premium motor spirit.

Addressing the media, civil society organisations and the public, the State Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Ethan Uzamere supported by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare and the Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie revealed that some measures have been taken by the State Government to ease the situation.

He says over seven hundred thousand litres have come in with more still being expected.
The Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie cautions players in the sector against sharp practices.

The Civil Society Organisations commended the prompt response of the State Government with a call for further interactions geared towards continuous availability of petrol at reasonable prices.
