EU/Nigeria Dialogue: Stolen assets recovery

EU/ Nigeria Dialogue

The European Union has pledged to support  Nigeria in recovering all the assets stolen by foreign countries, tackling corruption, and curbing illicit financial flows.

Head of the EU delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi, said this during the 6th round of the Nigeria-EU Human Rights dialogue which took place on Friday in Abuja.

The EU head of delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS said  Nigeria and EU countries’ representatives agreed to resolutions on human rights, safe migration, humanitarian situation, and issues of mutual concern.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said the Nigerian government will continue to work to ensure that Nigerians are not denied their rights.

The Director of, the International Organization Division in the foreign affairs Ministry,    Samson Itegboje,  said the Nigeria-EU dialogue was a veritable platform for Nigeria and the European Union to constructively engage on issues of mutual concerns on human rights and other related matters.

Other important issues discussed included ways the European Union can support Nigeria in containing illicit financial flow and helping Nigeria to recover her stolen assets abroad.
