Nigerians have been called upon to elect leaders who will identify with the pains of the people to bring about the needed change in the country.

The chairman of the katsina state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Very Reverend Father Richard Liti made the call at the end of a 2 day prayer summit and award presentation as, ‘Friend of the Church’
to Governor Aminu Masari in katsina.

Presenting the award to Governor Masari, the Katsina State CAN chairman, Very Reverend Father Richard Liti described him as an outstanding governor who has exhibited good leadership qualities and all-inclusive governance in the state.

Liti added that Masari is the first governor in Katsina who has identified with the church to the extent that he appointed 3 of its members as Senior Special Assistants on Christian Affairs, a Special Adviser on Christian Women Affairs, and a Special Adviser on indigenous Nigerians in his cabinet as well as sponsoring of over 300 Christians on pilgrimage to Jerusalem in the past 7 and half years.

While praying for peaceful general elections and for Nigerians to elect God-fearing leaders, the CAN chairman further pleaded with Masari to ensure he includes, Christian Religious Knowledge, CRK, in the school curriculum to ease the teaching of the subject in both public and private schools before the expiration of his second tenure.

Governor Aminu Masari while receiving the award told the Christians in Katsina that, they are indigenes and not residents, therefore, they should desist from traveling to other states to secure indigeneship.

He attributed the challenges Nigeria is facing to a lack of good leadership and education.

Masari further called on Christian parents to enroll their children in schools to acquire education to tackle the various challenges facing the nation.

The Governor, therefore, warned politicians against using religion, tribal and regional differences to mislead Nigerians.

Special prayers were also held for the release of the 11 Christians who were abducted in a church at Unguwar Haruna in Kankara Local Government Area on January 15 and other Nigerians across the country that are still in captivity and for the conduct of hitch-free 2023 elections.
