The African Action Congress, AAC, has raised the alarm over the reported attack on its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, by suspected political thugs in Ekiti State.
The party says Sowore and members of his team were attacked by gunmen at Tawakal-Tu Restaurant in Ekiti State, alleging that eyewitnesses identified the assailants as known members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex Elanu, the AAC expressed concern over Sowore’s whereabouts following the incident, saying his current location remains unknown.
The party has called on the Ekiti State Governor, the Inspector-General of Police and the State Commissioner of Police to urgently establish Sowore’s whereabouts, guarantee his safety and ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attack.

The AAC, which described the incident as an attempt to intimidate opposition voices, warned that it would hold the state government and relevant security authorities accountable should anything happen to its presidential candidate.
The party further threatened to mobilise a mass protest at the Ekiti State Government House if security agencies failed to take immediate action.
It insisted that political violence must not be used to silence opposition in the country, demanding the immediate whereabouts and safety of Omoyele Sowore, as well as justice for the alleged attack.
The AAC says it will not tolerate any attempt to intimidate its candidate, insisting that those responsible must face the full weight of the law.
