Two students of the Federal University Wukari who were abducted on April 4,2024 have regained their freedom.
It was gathered that they were liberated after the payment of an undisclosed amount as ransom to their abductors.
The released students were picked close to Chinkai Community in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, after spending seven days in captivity.
They are reported to still be in the custody of security operatives before they get reunited with their families.
The Head of the Information and Protocol Unit of the institution, Federal University Wukari confirmed the release of the abducted students.
The students, Joshua Sunday of the Department of Economics and Obianu Elizabeth of the Micro-Biology Department were kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday April 4, close to their off-campus accommodation, at a restaurant where they work to support themselves in school.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of 12 million naira for their release, but it was gathered that the ransom was reduced by the kidnappers after rigorous negotiation.
