The National Boundary Commission says Abia and Anambra States have agreed on 15 kilometres of their 23-kilometre interstate boundary, with discussions continuing on the remaining eight-kilometre stretch.

The Commission’s Director-General, Surveyor Adamu Adaji, announced the development during a joint meeting of officials from both states in Awka, Anambra State.

He said the meeting reviewed recommendations from a technical committee aimed at resolving the outstanding areas through dialogue and established legal procedures.

Adaji commended both state governments for their cooperation and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to providing the technical and institutional support needed to conclude the boundary demarcation process.

He noted that a successful resolution would promote lasting peace, good neighbourliness, and sustainable development in the affected communities.

At the end of the meeting, both states pledged to complete the demarcation of their common boundary and appealed to the National Boundary Commission to expedite the process toward a peaceful and lasting resolution.
