The Abia State Government, South East Nigeria has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding, MoU with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA for the reactivation of the Ogwe Golden Chicken Project in Ukwa West Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking after signing the MOU at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu expressed delight with the arrangement to bring the Farm project back to full operations, noting that his adminstration will continue to mainstream agriculture to ensure food security.
Describing Agriculture as a very strategic enterprise in the growth of the national economy, the Abia State Governor observes that it remains the greatest provider of jobs for the teeming youths as well as provides raw materials for other secondary and tertiary industries.

The Chief Executive Officer, National Agricultural Land Development Authority, Paul Ikonne disclosed that the first phase of the project will be commissioned in December 2021.
When fully in operation, the Ogwe Golden Chicken project is expected to create over 3000 new jobs for the local communities, thereby drastically reducing youth unemployment.
