Pensioners in Abia state have dissociated themselves from a purported memorandum of agreement signed between the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, NUP, and the Abia state government to waive their gratuity and other entitlements of pensioners.

Addressing a news conference in Umuahia the state capital the NUP executives said the purported agreement was a unilateral decision by the state government which is not binding because they never made any input in the matter.

The leadership of the pensioners in Abia state further noted that all efforts to have audience with the governor, Alex Otti has not received any positive response hence the media conference to state the facts of the matter.
