Nigeria’s number one men’s singles tennis player, Canice Abua, defeated second seed Lucky Danjuma 7–5, 6–4 to win a non-ranking tournament at the tennis arena of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The tournament drew members of Nigeria’s tennis community, who gathered to celebrate the birthday of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu.
In the final, Abua held his nerve to edge a tightly contested first set before relying on experience to seal victory in the second.

In the junior category, Unity Alex won the boys’ singles title, while Salvation Alex claimed the girls’ crown.
Spectators say the level of performance at the tournament reflects Nigeria’s growing potential and a promising future for the sport.
