Air passengers at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja have expressed mixed opinions over the suspension of the Nigeria Labour Congress nationwide protest over electricity tarrif and fuel pump price increases.
A cross-section at the arrival and departure terminals appealed to the Federal Government not to make empty promises with the union, but to use the two weeks agreement to work towards ensuring that the outcome will benefit Nigerians.
For others, the strike action would have totally shut down the weakening nation’s economy, which could affect daily earners at the airport and called for continuous negotiation, to provide a win-win situation for both parties.

The federal government and the organised labour had agreed to reverse the new electricity tariff for a period of two weeks, pending the outcome of a technical committee, expected to look at the new tariff regime and metering, among others for more understanding.
They also agreed that another steering committee will be set up on the petroleum downstream sector to ensure that the nation reduces the importation, by fixing the existing refineries.
