Abuja Magistrate Court Grants CUPP Spokesperson Ugo Chinyere Bail

A Magistrate Court in Abuja has ordered the release of the Spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Party, CUPP, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

The court order came after Ugochinyere was arraigned on a four-count charge on defamation of character of the person of the Speaker of the House Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila. Ugochinyere pleaded not guilty to all count charges.

The Spokesman of CUPP, a coalition of opposition political parties in Nigeria was subsequently granted bail to the tune of N200 thousand naira and a surety in like sum who must not be less than level 8 officer.

The court also ruled that the defendant should not be re-arrested after perfecting his bail conditions.

The court adjourned trial to 16 of July.
