Members of the Accord Party have staged a protest in Abuja over the alleged detention of some of their members ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The protesters, who gathered in the Federal Capital Territory, accused the Nigeria Police Force of arresting key party members in Osun State and transferring them to Abuja under what they described as unclear circumstances.
Led by Olajengbesi Pelumi, the group described the arrests as unjust and politically motivated, alleging that they were intended to weaken the party ahead of the election.
The protesters called on the relevant authorities to immediately release the detained members and ensure a level playing field for all political parties participating in the poll.
They also urged security agencies to remain neutral and uphold democratic principles, warning that any form of intimidation or harassment could undermine the credibility of the governorship election in Osun State.
