A cross section of civil society organisations led by Actionaid Nigeria and Action Coalition on Education For All, CSACEFA have called on the Federal Government to seek alternative sources of financing the country’s education, beyond budgetary allocation, which they say has remained appalling.

This was the thrust at the one-day workshop on education financing in Nigeria.

Out of the N13.6 trillion appropriated in the 2021 budget for Nigeria, 6.3% was allocated to education.

This development speakers at the education financing workshop say is grossly inadequate. Government was therefore challenged to engage more with the private sector for additional sources of funds to better the country’s education.

Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo and other speakers say, the absence of government officials at the event, further confirms what they describe as Nigerian authorities lackadaisical approach to improving on what they also describe as the country’s dwindling education fortunes.
