The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC says the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, has more presence online than on the ground, insisting it lacks the grassroots strength to win any election in 2027.

Speaking in Kano, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, accused the ADC of lacking direction and focus, adding that its strategy is largely centered on blaming the ruling party.

The visit of Professor Yilwatda to Kano is linked to ongoing political consultations, including moves to attract key opposition figures into the party with former governor Ibrahim Shekaru being rumoured as a target, hence his visit to Governor Abba Yusuf at the Government House Kano

Responding to questions on the ADC’s rising profile, Yilwatda downplayed its influence, saying the party exists mainly on social media with little grassroots presence.

The APC chairman says he has seen meaningful development ongoing in Kano and urged opposition parties to support the state’s progress.

Yilwatda expressed confidence that the ADC will face defeat in 2027, pointing to the development efforts of Abba Yusuf in Kano and President Bola Tinubu as a key advantage to the party.
