A factional leader of the African Democratic Congress and member representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has announced his exit from the African Democratic Congress
Briefing journalists in Abuja, the lawmaker who was elected twice on the platform of the party cited internal crises, legal disputes, leadership uncertainty, and what he described as a sustained attempt to frustrate his political ambition within the party for his resignation
Although, the lawmaker did not mention his next political party, he traced the crisis in the party to a legal action he initiated in 2025 involving key party figures, accussing the defendants of deliberately frustrating the case and alleged a deliberate attempt to undermine his political trajectory within the party.

Abejide explained that as a member who nurtured the African Democratic Congress to national recognition with representation in both National and State Assemblies, it was only necessary that every action leading to a change of leadership gets his approval
The lawmaker says he is dumping the African Democratic Congress for those he alleged to have hijacked the party, promising to reveal his next political platform in the coming days
