Former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mahadi Aliyu Gusau, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 general election in the state.
Announcing the results of the primary election conducted across the 147 wards of Zamfara State, the returning officer, Namadi Musa, said Mahadi Aliyu Gusau secured 35,665 votes to defeat his two contenders.
According to the results, Abdulmudalib Muhammad Ahmed scored 15,092 votes, while Shehu Ahmed Isha polled 7,642 votes.

Declaring the outcome of the exercise, the Chairman of the ADC Zamfara Governorship Primary Election Committee, Namadi Musa, officially announced Mahadi Aliyu Gusau as the winner of the party’s governorship primary election.
Mahadi Aliyu Gusau previously served as Deputy Governor during the administration of former Governor Bello Matawalle.
Speaking on behalf of the winner, Aminu Gusau accepted the outcome of the election and assured party supporters of continued commitment towards strengthening the ADC in Zamfara State and across Nigeria.
