Taraba State Government has begun the fresh recruitment process into the State Fire Service.

The first phase of the exercise held in Jalingo the State capital with shortlisted candidates scheduled to undergo further training with the Federal Fire Service Academy.

Taraba has, in recent times, witnessed several major Fire incidents in different parts of the State. Prominent among them was the St Mary’s Catholic Church Fire incident in Wukari Local Government Area.

Notable in most incidents is the inability to contain the Fire outbreak due to lack of facilities, or late response of fire service personnel.

Aside setting up a committee to investigate the cause of the incessant Fire outbreak incidents, the state government has procured fire fighting gadgets, and has also improved on the human resources to ensure effectiveness in fighting fire outbreaks.
