Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to a free and fair governorship election in the state.
Adeleke spoke after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after securing a second term in office.
Governor Ademola Adeleke says his visit to the Presidential Villa was primarily to thank President Bola Tinubu for allowing what he described as a credible democratic process in Osun State.
Adeleke says the conduct and outcome of the August 15 election demonstrated the importance of allowing voters to freely choose their leaders.
He described President Tinubu as the father of the nation and acknowledged his role in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Adeleke won the governorship election with 511,067 votes.
His closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, received 444,815 votes.
The governor says his meeting with the President was also an opportunity to express appreciation for what he described as Tinubu’s commitment to sustaining democracy.
