Justice Othman Musa of the federal capital territory high court has extended the order for the detention of former attorney general of the federation and minister of justice Mohammed Adoke for another fourteen days
The order followed a request by the economic and financial crimes commission EFCC, to allow it keep Adoke in its custody in order to prepare his charge and his arraignment
Ruling on the application on Thursday, justice Musa held that the extension of the remand of the respondent for the purpose of his arraignment in court is necessary, and granted the request as prayed.
Adoke was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on the nineteenth of December 2019, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport on his return from Dubai, united Arab emirates after over four years of self imposed exile.
His return was instigated by the Interpol based on a warrant of arrest request earlier initiated by the EFCC.

His lawyer, mike Ozekhome had challenged his arrest on grounds that the warrant for arrest was set aside by the court and that a court had exonerated his client of any complicity in the Malabu oil controversy.
Adoke, in his position as minister of justice and chief law officer of the federation, had advised the administration of president Goodluck Jonathan to comply with the court Judgements by settling the judgment debtors in the Malabu oil case
But the efcc later alleged that the settlement was fraudulent and revealed crimes bordering on conspiracy, bribery, corruption and money laundering to the tune of one point two billion dollars, and that it constituted a major revenue loss to the Nigerian government.
