Cameroon, the host of Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2021, has confirmed January 9 to February 6 as dates for the tournament next year.
The decision was taken on Wednesday in the capital of Cameroon, Yaounde, at the end of a meeting with officials of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, led by President Ahmad Ahmad and officials of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.

FECAFOOT had earlier expressed worries about holding the event in June-July due to concerns about the rainy season weather affecting the tournament, which made the date shifted back to the original period, the best option.

Last AFCON host, Egypt, held the first 24-man edition in June-July 2019; partly to avoid the constant clashing with the European club season.
Cameroon is also the host for this year’s African Nations Championship, CHAN 2020, scheduled to kick start from April 4 to 25.
