Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro says his team needs to be clinical in front of goal in subsequent games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Peseiro’s side’s poor marksmanship cost them victory in their opening Group B tie against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
The Super Eagles came from behind to equalize 1-1 and earn a share of the spoils in the keenly contested encounter.
Victor Osimhen and Zaidu Sanusi also missed good chances for the three-time champions in the game.
The Portuguese hinted after the game that it is important for his team to improve on their finishing.
“We deserved to win the game because we created many scoring chances,” he remarked.

“We therefore need to improve on our finishing.”
The game was played under the scorching Abidjan weather.
Peseiro admitted the harsh weather made things difficult for his players.
“It’s not easy to play under these conditions,”added the former Saudi Arabia and Venezuela coach.
“We couldn’t press as we should because of the heat.
“We need to manage our energy.”
Nigeria’s next match is against Cote D’Ivoire on Thursday.
