The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on Saturday defeated South Africa 3-2 to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Algeria.
The South Africans took the lead on 7 minutes through Vicky Mkhawana.
The Eaglets equalized on 34 minutes after mounting much pressure on their opponent’s defense, as Charles Agada equalised.
A few seconds to the break, the South Africans restored their lead from a brilliant strike by Siyabonga Mabena after finding his way through, he unleashed an unstoppable shot that went through the Nigerian goalkeeper.

The Eaglets restored parity in the 46 minutes, Light Eke was on hand to score after Nigeria’s first goal scorer on the night Charles Agada turned provider this time around to make it 2-2.
Abdullahi Abubakar gave the Nigerian side the lead in the 64 minutes. It was the first time in the match that the Nigerian side took the lead and held on.
The Eaglets finished second behind Morocco both teams with 6 points apiece, while Zambia and South Africa finished third and fourth respectively.
