The Nigerian film No U-Turn, directed by Ike Nnaebue has won the award for the Best Documentary at the 2022 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
The Best Young Actor award went to Amina Muhammed for the drama Ayaanle while the film Here Love Lies by Tope Oshin won in the Best Film By An African Abroad category.
In the Best Film In An African Language category, the Tanzanian drama Tug of War directed by Amil Shivji won.
The Ugandan movie No Way Out won the Best Animation while the South African feature film Surviving Gaza won in the Best Achievement In Sound category.
Ikhlas Gafur Vora picked up the Best Actress In A Leading Role award for the movie Tug of War while Ghana’s Eugene Boateng won the Best Actor In A Leading Role for the film Borga

Nollywood actress Ijeoma Grace-Agu picked up the Actress In A Supporting Role while Ghanaian actor Adjetev Anag won in the Actor In Supporting Role category.
In the Best Cinematography category the Ugandan drama thriller Tembele written and directed by Morris Mugisha won. Still on Uganda
the movie No Way Out won in the Best Animation category.
The Anabel Barnston written and directed drama won the Best Diaspora Short film award while the U. S filmmaker Skinner Myers won the Best Diaspora Feature Film.
The Africa Movie Academy Awards an initiative of Nigerian film producer and director Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is aimed at celebrating the brightest and best in the movie industry in Africa in the areas of research training and the propagation of filmmaking in Africa.
