Nigerian gymnast, Uche Eke, has qualified to represent the country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after winning a bronze medal at the African Championships in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.
Eke who participated in Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics, had five attempts which placed him behind Egypt’s duo of Omar Mohammed who came first with gold and Ziad Khater who took the silver all-around medal.

Eke who is Nigeria’s only decorated male gymnast, consequently took the second qualification spot as it is one per country that can qualify.
The gold and silver medalists were both from Egypt, so they had to skip over the second Egyptian.
The master of balance earned Nigeria’s first-ever gold medal in gymnastics at the 2019 All-African Games.
