The youths in the All Progressives Congress, APC, have staged a protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, calling for the dissolution of the party structures from the ward to the state level.

The youths who turned out in their numbers, marching through major streets of the state capital carrying placards with various inscriptions are also calling for the setting up of an “independent caretaker committee” to oversee the restructuring of the party and turn it into “an election-winning machine again”.

They further called for an all-inclusive party executive structure from wards to state level within 90 days

The protesting youths maintained that the July 16th governorship election in the state has come and gone, but the aftermath will remain with the party for a long time to come as the party lost a governorship election they should have won.

They stated that the journey to the party’s humiliating defeat began in 2018 with the unjust imposition of the candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, from the wrong electoral zone, Osun Central, when the residents of the state were expecting the party to field a candidate from Osun West.

Among other demands made is the redistribution of the state and federal legislative tickets in an all-inclusive manner to reflect true membership structure and tendencies.
