Nigeria and Ethiopia are strengthening youth cooperation on climate resilience, with young people from both countries launching a joint tree-planting drive in Abuja ahead of COP32.
The initiative is designed to encourage the exchange of climate solutions and deepen African collaboration in responding to shared environmental challenges.
The exercise brought together a seven-member Ethiopian youth delegation and their Nigerian counterparts, as both sides explore how young Africans can contribute to building communities better able to withstand the effects of climate change.
FCT Mandate Secretary for Health Services and Environment, Dolapo Fasawe, said the administration is expanding greenery and afforestation as part of measures to strengthen environmental resilience in the Federal Capital Territory.
APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, and a representative of the Ethiopian Embassy, said experiences from both countries could provide practical lessons in climate adaptation and sustainable development.
Organisers say the initiative is intended to build longer-term cooperation between young Nigerians and Ethiopians while strengthening Africa’s youth voice in the build-up to COP32.
