The Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Oladayo Amao says the current security threats facing Nigeria and the challenges they pose to the attainment of national development goals require a robust security architecture including airpower to rapidly surmount them.
Air Marshal Amao stated this at a Christmas luncheon in Kaduna to honour the personnel of the air component of Operations Whirls Punch and Bada Mamaki fighting insurgency in Kaduna, Niger, Kogi states and the FCT.

Apart from promoting comradeship among the troops, the luncheon is also to remind them of their responsibility of defending the nation territorial integrity.
The Chief of the Air Staff in a message delivered by the AOC Air Training Command Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba acknowleged the resilience and patriotism of the troops.
He therefore charged them to sustain the tempo of the fight until Nigeria’s security challenges are eliminated.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army Major General Taoreed Lagbaja promised to maintain the synergy between the army and the air force in the drive to tackle the nation’s insecurity.
The Nigeria’s Air Chief also used the occasion to pay tribute to those who paid the supreme prize in the service to their fatherland.
