Air Peace airline passengers stranded in Abuja airport as cost of aviation fuel bites

The high cost of aviation fuel may have affected the operations of Air Peace airline on Saturday morning in Abuja as all its scheduled flight have been grounded.

The airline in a statement on Saturday confirmed that unavailability of aviation fuel has hampered its operations.
It however stated that it is working with relevant authorities to source fuel and restore normal operations as soon as possible.

Our correspondent on ground at the Nnadi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja reports that
the airline has provided light refreshment for its passengers that have checked hours after they were scheduled to fly.

The departure lounge of the domestic wing Nnamdi Azikiwe International AirPort in Abuja is filled up as air passengers of Air Peace remain stranded.

Other airlines are carrying out normal operations.

The Airline operators of Nigeria had threatened to suspend operations or increase the price of tickets if the government does not force down the high cost of aviation fuel.

The federal government had promised a number of measures to ameliorate the situation.
