President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio says the current wave of insecurity in Nigeria is politically motivated and aimed at distracting President Bola Tinubu from delivering on his mandate.

Akpabio stated this on Tuesday in Abuja during his remarks at the official commissioning of the Nigerian Revenue Service corporate headquarters by President Tinubu.

According to him, the insecurity being witnessed across parts of the country is being deliberately sponsored by political actors.

President of the Senate also addressed the controversy surrounding a tweet allegedly linked to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan.

The development has sparked reactions from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, whose leadership has called for the chairman’s resignation.

Akpabio, however, urged restraint, noting that due process should be followed in resolving the matter.
