There appears to be deep crisis in Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, following the inauguration of Stephen Leo Ntukekpo led State executive by the Abdullahi Adamu led National Working Committee.
Secretary of the defunct Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudoedehe has already petitioned the National Secretariat of the APC to withdraw the recognition of Ntukekpo’s executive to avoid instituting illegality in Akwa Ibom APC.
Akpanudoedehe’s petition says the action of Abdullahi Adamu is in disregard of the April 7 Court of Appeal order stating that status quo be maintained in the Akwa Ibom APC executive until the Appeal is heard on May 17.

The emergence of Augustine Ekanem led APC executive at a congress held on 16 October 2021 has remained contentious since then leading to factions in the state chapter of the party.
The two warring factions are being propelled by two influential politicians in Akwa Ibom State.
Ekanem has the support of the secretary of the defunct CECPC, Akpan John Udoedehe, while Ntukekpo led executive is backed by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and former Governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio.
