Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has flagged off construction of the Ikot Ekpene International Market, a 1,200 shop commercial facility designed to expand trade and create economic opportunities in the state.
The Governor says the project forms part of his administration’s development programme as Akwa Ibom marks 39 years of statehood.
At the flag off ceremony in Ikot Ekpene, Governor Eno said the International Market is designed to go beyond buying and selling to become a commercial hub for trade, investment and economic activity.
The Governor also reflected on the 39 projects commissioned to mark the state’s 39th anniversary.
He said the projects provide an opportunity for residents to assess the performance of his administration, while claiming that the record had answered some of his critics.
